Where our organic vine wood comes from
Organic vinesOur vine wood comes from organically farmed vines, pulled up between Roujan and Pézenas, in the Hérault. These vines were used to make the organic wine of the Les Vignerons d'Alignan-Neffiès cooperative winery. We collected their ceps and stumps, then bagged them in Tourbes, a few kilometres away.

- 01
Pulling up
When a plot of organic vines is pulled up, between Roujan and Pézenas, we collect the ceps and stumps instead of letting them go to the shredder.
- 02
Cleaning and sorting
Each vine base is cleared of soil and stones, then sorted by hand: we only keep the big, dense pieces that make real embers.
- 03
Drying
The wood dries naturally, in the open air and sheltered from rain, for as long as it takes. Well-dried wood lights easily and burns cleanly.
- 04
Bagging in Tourbes
We pack the wood in 4 kg kraft bags at our depot in Tourbes, a few kilometres from the vines, and ship it all over France.

- What difference does wood from organic vines make?
- Organically farmed vines are grown without herbicides, synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and are inspected every year by a certification body. So you know exactly what wood you cook on.
- How do I know the wood really comes from organic vines?
- We know every vineyard our wood comes from, and we hold the winery's organic certificate. This page shows you exactly where they are: less than 15 km from the vines to the bag.
- Does the wood always come from the same place?
- Our wood comes from organic vineyards being pulled up, which happens season after season. This page shows where the current batch comes from, and we update it with each new batch.
